Our Mission

Tree of Life Books cultivates established and emerging authors with compelling stories to tell. Our team has over 60 years of combined editorial and storytelling experience, and we have devoted our lives to helping authors add their voices to the cultural conversation. We work with authors from all walks of life, including those who have been excluded from traditional publishing. We publish fiction of all genres, nonfiction, memoir, poetry, and YA. 

We believe publishers are not gatekeepers but rather collaborators. As your teammates, we work closely with you on all steps of the writing and publishing process from developing your story to producing an award-winning book with stunning visuals. Our business is collaborative: We are publishing experts, but you are the expert of your own story. 

The Origins of Our Name

In countless cultures, the sacred Tree of Life represents the interconnectedness of all beings. The tree’s root system interweaves with neighboring trees and organisms, while its branches and leaves reach toward the sky. Each tree has its own unique story and also connects to the larger whole, the forest that surrounds it. At Tree of Life Books, the authors we nurture and publish write books that reach deep into their communities and feed minds, hearts, and souls.
